The Loghman Hospital is the only tertiary hospital for poisoned patient in Tehran that serves in excess of 12 million in the capital city. It presently has a 22 ICU-beds capacity just for poisoned patients, 40 poison ward beds, and one mono chamber hyperbaric oxygen and is the largest in the nation. The Medical Toxicology service admits all poisoned patients to this facility.  Toxicology Research Center, substance abuse clinic and Drug and poison Medical Toxicology Department.

The Forensic Medicine, Internal Medicine, Occupational Medicine, PhD students of toxicology, Pediatric and Emergency Medicine residents at Loghman currently rotate through these facilities.  Loghman Medical Center is the only tertiary referral center for poisoned patients in    Tehran, accepting patients from  Tehran counties and occasionally from all country.The spectrum of poisoned patients encountered by residents is wide and includes accidental adult and childhood drug ingestions, recreational drug abuse, suicide attempts, adverse drug effects, plant and mushroom poisoning, envenomations by venomous creatures, and industrial toxicology problems.

This complex has a big experience in chemical warfare agents due to 8 years prolongation of Iran—Iraq warLoghman Hakim Medical Center is an urban teaching hospital in Tehran, Iran, comprising 400 medical, surgical, and pediatric beds. This hospital is located in south western Tehran, Lashgar Intersection, Kamali Street with 32000 square meter facility. .

Until 1966 this center was known as” Poisoned Hospital” and was under the supervision of Sickbay Ministry of that time. After the completion of the current buildings in 1974, it was given to the National University of Iran with the name of “Loghman Al Dolle Hospital”. After the Islamic   revolution  its  name  changed  to Loghman Hakim’s medical,    educational and clinical center under the supervision of University of Medical Sciences, Clinical and Health services of Martyr Beheshti.

Also an open heart unit is under construction this year .Loghman handles nearly 80,000 outpatient clinic visits, 84,000 emergency patients, and some 24,400 inpatients each year.The Medical Toxicology  service sees over 28,000 patients annually with 12,200 admissions. It  seems  that  Loghman Medical Center  is  the  largest  inpatient Clinical Toxicology service in the world.
